The Meeting Place
Earth Date - 2932, March 12 (12 years ago from present day)
Location - Cathcart System, Spider
I always feel a little tense meeting an info agent for the first time but this contact has me especially rustled. This guy’s a shadow even on the darknet, so he’s either very good or completely fresh. I only know that he goes by “Avacar”. Jace got the name off one of his acquaintances after a bare-fisted fight in the service tunnels under the Vices and Vixens. Or so he says. I think I need to remind my brother that this kind of work isn’t some kind of holovid escapism. Around here, even an errant look can get you tossed out an airlock. I guess it’s appropriate then that I’m meeting this Avacar at The Ghosted Skiff.
This bar is a favorite of mine. It’s got the best view of the junk belt on all of Spider and a damn good beer selection. The owner has a reputation for paying handsomely for crates of exotic beers from all over the ‘verse. Even we’ve sold a few crates to Ol’ Denny if we stumbled across them on a job.
I finish off my beer and Denny sets down a fresh one. I heard a rumor that this place was partially built from the salvaged remains of a UEE Navy Bengal carrier. I guess it does feel familiar in a way…. Oh, there’s a new silhouette entering the bar, someone I don’t recognize.
